The XMEGA-A1 Xplained MCU evaluation board features the ATxmega128A1, a device optimized for the best possible combination of real time performance, integration and power efficiency. It is part of the 8/16-bit AVR XMEGA family of devices ranging from 44-100 pin, 16-256 KB of Flash program memory and 4-16 KB of SRAM
The XMEGA-A1 Xplained MCU board is easy to use and offers a complete hardware for evaluating the functionality of the ATxmega128A1 device. The ADC can be used to read a temperature sensor and a potentiometer, and the DAC can be used to generate sound on a mono speaker. It also demonstrates how to interface external memories; the kit features 8MB SDRAM connected to the ATxmega128A1. Eight push buttons and eight LEDs are available for user interaction. There are headers with 24 spare I/O pins, and access to use the communication modules, Timer/Counter and the other analog and digital device peripherals.
The kit is powered from USB. The USB interface is connected to a board controller that offers a USB to UART/i2C bridge between the ATxmega128A1 and the PC.
Drivers for ATxmega128A1 peripheral modules are available at the XMEGA application notes section.
